In this cute new animated spot for Friskies Grillers cat food, a cat sits looking up at a grill with smoke coming up off of it, and then we see the animated images of the different flavors it presumably smells: a cow, chickens, and spatulas, and it says: “Meaty Hearty Tenders Grillin’”. And this is really cute, but what it reminds me of is that old Far Side cartoon where the cat is looking into the clothes dryer, which has a sign that says: “Cat Fud” on it, and a dog is looking from around the corner, saying to himself: “Oh please, oh please!” And that’s because I know cats very well, and they like to jump up onto things, and I could see a dog lighting a grill with yummy smells and hoping a cat would jump up onto it.
