Rise of the Guardians 2

I saw the movie Rise of the Guardians a couple of days ago with my niece, and it’s pretty apparent to me what the sequel ought to be about. In Rise of the Guardians, Jack Frost is enlisted to help Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, et. al., in their fight against a villain named Pitch who likes to make dreams into nightmares, and who is trying to stop children from believing in the Guardian characters. (Oh, sorry: spoiler alert, I guess.) And the more kids stop believing in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, etc., the less power they have, and they are in danger of disappearing. And Jack Frost, a character nobody initially believes in, is the only character who can save the day by making kids believe in the other characters again. (So it’s basically just the usual formula of some misfit rebel guy who must work together with others to defeat some threat. But new!)

Well, for the sequel, isn’t it obvious what should happen? Why, with all the environmental message movies there are lately, shouldn’t global warming cause Jack Frost to lose his powers, and the other characters stop global warming to save Jack Frost? (He saved them last time, so they owe him!) Then the villain could be the fossil fuel companies, and all the Guardians could fight to get green energy. And of course, Santa’s North Pole would melt, etc. It sure would fit in with other environmental message movies, wouldn’t it?
