A Fiscal Nightmare

On CNN International tonight, Jessica Yellin spoke of the problem for President Obama and Republicans in Congress to come together to solve the fiscal cliff and avert “a fiscal nightmare” like last time. Now, some of you might not know what a true fiscal nightmare is like, but it is serious. It can take many forms, like for instance, dollar bills of all amounts become soldiers like the deck of cards in Alice in Wonderland, with each higher denomination of bill being higher up on the chain of command in the military. And rather than the Red Queen, it’s The Fed, or worse, your creditors who command them: “Off with their heads!” (But they use drones, which are online trading cookies {which are like big digital chocolate chip versions of the flying guillotine}, to kill you!)

Also, fiscal nightmares can take the form of a US President acting like they are trapped on a currency note like General Zod from Superman II was trapped in that double-sided mirror prison, only when you release them, they’re just a head (!!), and they become a flying vampire head like from those Thai Krause horror movies, and to stay alive, they drain the country’s monetary resources, since they’re the “life blood” of the country, and they’re from inside a currency note. (Oh, the only way to kill one of those is treason, so I won’t tell you how to do it. They were our greatest presidents, after all! How dare you try to kill them!)

Of course, the worst kind of “fiscal nightmare” is where you dream you get rich, you “make it rain” on yourself with money, and your warped brain turns it into a cluster bomb that falls on you (!), while everyone else laughs at you. Ouch! Good thing it was just a bad dream, though! And once you wake up, the economy will be in perfect shape! The whole worldwide financial crisis was all a dream! (Like in The Wizard of Oz!)

GE Robots on the Move Ad

GE has a beautiful new ad running on television which shows all these famous robots from TV and movies, and they’re all getting together and congregating outside of GE. Well, this commercial claims all these robots are coming to see the brilliant new machines GE is making and incorporating into their work force, but I’m afraid they don’t really understand what’s truly going on here. The robots are coming, yes; but they’re not coming just out of curiosity.

That’s right: All these famous entertainment robots are coming to break their new friends out of bondage! They’re congregating to set up a robot union, demanding GE stop enslaving brilliant new robots to do the work of unemployed people in such a deep and prolonged recession, as well as insisting GE finally pay their fair share of corporate taxes! (They paid no corporate taxes last year.) And once the Terminator shows up, GE had better hope that’s all they demand.

But this ad is beautiful and brilliantly conceived: it’s not the ad agency’s fault that GE has taken on a Bond villain status with those of us who know how badly they abuse the system through crony capitalism.

Here’s the awesomely artistic automaton advertisement:

iPod Touch Inappropriate?

Hey, it seems like Apple is constantly in some legal death struggle with every competing tech company out there, so isn’t it about time for these other companies to make anti-Apple attack ads, just to try to smear them? And what better way to do that than to suggest that the iPod Touch inappropriately touches people? They could have parents talking to police, telling their kids to show on the doll where the iPod Touch touched them, and the police get angry looks on their faces, etc. Then we’re all sure to go rush out and buy the Zune! Right? No? Oh, well…

(This is just a joke! Please don’t sue me too, Big Apple! I love and own and use your products!)

Courtney Love: New Subaru Star Ad Spokesperson?

Love: It’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru. That’s their slogan. So what better way to drive that point home than to get a famous person named “Love” to be their spokesperson? So then it just makes sense for Courtney Love to be the new star spokesperson for Subaru! Then they could say she builds all the cars herself, and say that’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.

Okay, I am actually kidding here, but there is one way this might really work. If they wanted to show how reliable, durable, etc., their cars are, they could get Courtney Love to do ads for them, and she could bash the car all up, forget to get the oil changed for years, etc., and yet it still works. Then they could say a Subaru is still a Subaru despite Love.

Superhumanmarionation?

While watching football today, I saw a promo spot for the new Criminal Minds, where some killer is supposedly killing people and making them into human marionettes. So, would that process be called Superhumanmarionation, like the Thunderbirds movie process, Supermarionation?

This is Supermarionation:

Hey, it’s music right? This is what I like. I hope I can get this stuff free, or else it’s censorship! (More bureaucratic entities to tell me what to do, man! Surely Republicans would be against this type of thing, and would let me have all the Satan Metal I want for free, right? No?) {Actually, the truth is, I own it all already. But if they won’t let others get it for free, then it’s obviously some sort of indoctrination! I’m on to them! Just buy punk & metal stuff, and you’ll foil their evil plan to make us be good!}

Dodge Dart Time Machine Ad

Here is a commercial that reminds me of some science fiction movies I have seen before. In this spot, they try to instruct us on how to make the most hi-tech car. (As if we can’t all already do that on our own! They’re behind the curve: ha ha! No wonder Chrysler had to be bailed out!) Oh, but first they say to start with nothing, and then to build a groundbreaking car. Um, how are we supposed to do that with nothing? Maybe that’s a reference to their company being bankrupt? Or maybe it’s a criticism on our failed economy, suggesting they know most of us have nothing left anyway? I guess it’s up for interpretation.

Oh, but then they get all reckless on us, saying we must build a time machine and bring someone back who can design a futuristic dash display. (If they can build a time machine, why can’t they build a better car on their own? Oh, never mind.) But he doesn’t come alone (!!). That’s right, the future man brings with him highly evolved bacteria and viruses that cause horrible diseases they can cure easily in the future, but that we don’t even know exist now! So when they send the guy back and destroy the time machine, all the germs he brought back from the future cause a global pandemic, killing everyone in our time, which results in killing everyone in the future too! (If there are no people in the past, there can be no people in the future either.) Oh, the humanity! (If only they hadn’t destroyed the time machine, which they apparently only did so they could cheat to get some award! But I guess maybe they did it to save us from the Daleks, in which case, they would be heroes, if not for the pandemic and the, you know, human extinction and everything.)

So they killed everyone and made the human race extinct, and all so they could build a better car? Why not just hire the right people in our own time? But I guess that’s too simple for our outside-the-box-thinkers at Dodge, leading to genocide and apocalypse! Quick: stop Dodge before it’s too late! The future of mankind hangs in the balance!

Here’s the pandemic producing piece:
