I heard on NPR today that MetLife has been taken off the government's too big to fail list recently.
Well, thank God for that! With the Peanuts as their advertising mascots, and with how much Charlie Brown loses at everything, the economy would always be under threat!
We saw how just a couple of credit-default swap guys at AIG caused the whole financial meltdown, so it doesn't take a genius to see how Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown could be enough to crash the whole world economy.
But Charlie Brown has a contract with MetLife, and like all the guys who got bonuses from the bailouts, apparently it's easier to take the whole company off the government's list than it is to void the contact of just one Peanuts character.
Who knows: maybe there's a Peanuts character union, so none of them may advertise without all the others getting in on the action.
