Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m not sure the guy doing voiceovers
for the Outback Steakhouse ads sounds legitimately Australian to me. Could it
be possible he’s not?
But if they’re going to use some stereotype Australian voice
for a steakhouse ad, then why not go all the way? Show a patron try to cut a
steak with a butter knife, and have the voiceover guy say: “That’s not a knife!
That’s a knife!” And a waiter hands
them a steak knife. (Like that line from Crocodile
Dundee.)
