I love watching news panel shows where someone makes a
cogent point, and then someone else on the panel says: “You just stole my
talking point!” (Actually, I generally hate panel shows, but this kind of thing really makes all of them worthwhile.)
And so this has happened so many times by now, it has caused
a twisting of space/time/talking/points that a new super villain has been born:
The Talking Point Pilferer!
Yes, it’s the Talking Point Pilferer! He travels through
space/time, showing up just in time to say whatever important news people on
panels were going to say, making them look stupid and unprepared! And sometimes
he shows up, usurping everyone’s talking points, making them all look silly!
Ha ha ha! It doesn’t matter who you were going to shill for,
or what you wanted to say, the Talking Point Pilferer will ruin your day!
(BTW: I didn’t mean to always say: “he”, for the Talking
Point Pilferer is a gender-bending creature, always reflecting the correct sex
for the perfect amount of humiliation! For example, if the panel is all males,
the Talking Point Pilferer is a woman; if it’s a panel of all women, then the
Talking Point Pilferer is a male!)
Cower in your makeup, all you pompous news people, for the Talking Point
Pilferer will steal your thunder when you least expect it like a bolt from the
blue!
(Hmm, the Talking Point Pilferer is beginning to seem
more and more like a superhero…)
