Here we see an ad that’s trying to be like the fantastic
Subaru ad of the mother driving her tween daughter to school and embarrassing her by staring at her. Only this time, it’s
her father driving her, and they’re driving a Volkswagen. And so when the
daughter seems embarrassed to show up with her father in a Volkswagen, now I’m thinking it’s
because of the emissions scandal, and all the kids will rag on her for all the
pollution coming from her dad’s car. (Most young people are liberal, so I
cannot imagine she wouldn’t hear about the emissions issue at school once
everyone knows her dad drives a Volkswagen.)
