In the Warner Bros. Road
Runner cartoons, the coyote (Wile E. Coyote) is introduced with a bunch of
different joke genus names, one of which I noticed recently was: “Carnivorous
Vulgaris”. Well, when I saw that it occurred to me that this name might make
for a fun meat-themed food store or restaurant featuring dishes with meat in
absolutely everything. Meat is smeared and slandered by vegetarians and vegans
and hippies all the time, and so I thought the die-hard meat crowd might
appreciate a joke name like Carnivorous Vulgaris for a place that proudly
serves everything meat, appropriating the insult term for themselves and
proudly owning it.
