Non-GMO Logo Concept (Proposed)
My sister’s family eats a lot of that hippie health food, and most of it brags about how there are no GMOs in the food with a text logo that reads: “NO-GMO!” But is this really the most effective way to communicate this information? I only ask because most of the people who buy this type of food seem to be especially suspicious of and angry about GMOs in food. And with that in mind, I think the logo for non-GMO labeling on food packaging should also include a graphic image (a minimalist vector drawing, that is) of a mad scientist wearing a white lab coat and spooky goggles smiling an evil smile and holding up and looking at a vial of smoking liquid (< sort of a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reference) with a red circle around it and a red line through it (< like the old no smoking signs). Then it would say: “No GMOs” underneath (or above) the graphic. And that would tap into the fear and suspicion of GMOs in a silly way that would elicit a smile as well as the relief of being free from worry about GMOs, hopefully a fun and effective combination for driving sales.
