We see art projects now and then on the Internet where an
artist will create a series of paintings to show what Disney characters would
look like if they were real people, or what Barbie would look like if she had
normal body measurements, etc. These art projects usually have an agenda: get
attention for the artist, and communicate a social message (usually about body
image, or obesity, or sexism, or warning about the potential consequences of
some activity). And I think it’s about time someone warned of the dangers of
engaging in the types of violent activities witnessed in the Warner Bros.
cartoons by creating a series of paintings depicting crime scene coroner
photographs of what would actually happen to the cartoon characters in real
life were they to be subjected to the violence in the cartoons, like what would
Wile E. Coyote actually look like after having dynamite explode in his face,
after he is crushed by a giant boulder, after falling from a great height,
after being hit or run over by a truck or a train, etc., and what Daffy Duck or
Elmer Fudd would look like after being shot in the face with a shotgun. It sure
would be gory, and it might just encourage little kids to stop blowing each
other up with dynamite and such like they always do for a change.
Here’s an example of what I’m referring to with the art
projects (You have to scroll down a bit and click on the first picture on the left of
Pocahontas. Sorry, but I refuse to send you to a trendy website so they can
claim credit for this artist’s work):
(BTW: While I love this artist’s Disney project, I think he
completely flubbed one of them: Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. Aurora’s face is nothing like that.)
