Advil PM is running a TV spot that says: “Pain from your day
can haunt you at night”, and then we see scary tree branch shadows animated
menacingly and cracking walls and such, leading into a bedroom where we see a
man sleeping, blissfully unaware that his house is dangerously haunted by
poltergeists or demons due to the powerful drugs in Advil PM knocking him out.
(Just kidding. But that is sort of what this ad suggests.)
Wow, this ad really opens up the door for sequels, doesn’t
it? How about saying that if you’re possessed of pain, take Advil PM, and we
could see someone possessed like in an Exorcist movie, and a doctor with a
priest collar throws Advil PM in their mouth and the pain is exorcized and they
go to sleep. Or they could show the possessed girl from The Exorcist spin her
head all the way around, and the announcer could say: “Does pain from your day
make your head spin at night? Then take Advil PM! It will dispossess you of
your pain so you can sleep soundly.”
Here’s the Advil ad that makes us scream: “Aaaaaaa!”:
