Everyone watching television during the Martin Luther King,
Jr. weekend is bound to have drowned in mattress ads. That’s because MLK said
he had a dream, so naturally it follows to have bed sales around his holiday.
But MLK also said: “I’ve been to the mountaintop.” So where
are all the mountain climbing clothier and supply company sale ads over this
holiday weekend? How about skiing and snowboarding ads? It would be exactly the
same reasoning as with the mattress ads this holiday weekend, and yet I have
never noticed a MLK Day-themed ad relating to mountaintops.
But I guess there’s always next year…
