I keep hearing on the news that Russia hacked the United
States to influence the election process, but then President-Elect Trump says
it could have been some guy in his basement in his underwear who did the
hacking, and WikiLeaks sides with Trump.
But why does this have to be an either or thing here? How do
we know it wasn’t Vladimir Putin himself in his own basement in his underwear
who hacked the United States? I mean, we already know Putin likes to do things
with his shirt off, so it fits.
Plus, if Putin did the hacking himself, and he didn’t tell
anyone else, then all the Russian government people (excluding himself) could
have plausible deniability without lying, because they really didn’t know.
This way, both sides would be right in the United States:
the news and the intelligence community and
also Trump and his supporters: because the hacking would have been done by
Russia and also by a guy sitting in his basement in his underwear.
If it walks like a duck, and it hacks like a duck, and it
sits in its basement in its underwear like a duck, then it’s a duck.
