Some cable channel is showing Love Story (1970) tonight, the movie with the (in)famous line: “Love means
never having to say you’re sorry.” (<Yeah, right! Maybe that line is why
divorce rates are up so high since the film’s release.) So I thought it might
make for a fun Valentine’s Day ad, like so:
A couple is watching Love
Story on a movie channel, and we hear the (in)famous line. Then, after the
movie is over, the woman says to the man: “So, what did you get me for
Valentine’s Day?” And the guy smiles a nervous smile, to which the woman says: “You
forgot, didn’t you?” Then the man says: “I thought love meant never having to
say you’re sorry.”
Then we cut to the front of the house, and the man is being
thrown out the front door. Then the announcer says: “Don’t let this happen to
you! Get the (whatever product) Valentine’s Day Gift! And remember: love
notwithstanding, forgetting Valentine’s Day means having to say you’re sorry many,
many times! So don’t forget!”
BTW: This is Love Story (You can find the quote in the Quotes section.):
