NFL Football Flying Footballs Ad

Footballs go flying through the air for people to catch all over the place in this ad for NFL Football, but where do they come from? Well, at the beginning of the ad, we see the New York Jets playing in a stadium, and Mark Sanchez throws a pass, but it goes horribly off-target, so much so that it flies all the way out of the stadium! I guess this proves he’s got a strong throwing arm, but isn’t accuracy important too? This upcoming football season might be a bit disappointing if Sanchez is going to be this inaccurate in his passing game! Oh, but he’s not the only one, as this ad shows player after player, from quarterback to field-goal kicker, launching balls ridiculously off-target and sailing out of stadiums everywhere, sending footballs flying through the air all over the place! Boy, this NFL lockout must have hurt the league more than we though by forbidding teams to practice together! Now it looks like they’ve forgotten how. They’re all horribly out of practice, and it’s all the NFL owners’ fault! (Or, at least, that’s how this ad makes it look.)

And as if that’s not enough, this ad shows all these footballs being caught by normal people all over the place, like people on the sidewalk during rush hour, etc., and nobody tackles any of them! What the hell? I thought this was supposed to be an ad for football! What’s the point of throwing dozens of footballs throughout the city for people to catch if nobody gets to smear them into the pavement after they catch the balls? It’s just common sense: tackle the guy who catches the ball! Otherwise, he or she is going to score on you, and you’ll lose! So hammer that loser into the street and scrape that flesh across the asphalt! And make them smash into a cab and fumble it, and recover it and run it in for a touchdown! That way, you can become a local hero! The only problem is, where’s the end zone in this situation? I guess if it’s not marked, you can really say it’s wherever you want, so long as you tackle someone first. But would you get it called back for not wearing a helmet? I don’t know, but if it does, then that explains why people say: “helmet laws suck”!
