I just saw a commercial for Charter today that showed a family in a Christmasy house watching The Grinch on a really big flat-screen TV, and the announcer said: “HD really brings the holidays to life!” And this made me think: Wow, we just had Halloween, and they didn’t run an ad showing a family in Halloween costumes watching Frankenstein as the monster is brought to life, and have the announcer say: “HD really brings Halloween to life!”? (Actually, the announcer still could have said “the holidays”, since Halloween is also a holiday.) What a missed opportunity!
But it’s not too late! They could have a family in a Christmasy house watching a fake Frankenstein movie where Dr. Frankenstein brings a monster dressed as Santa Claus to life, saying HD really brings the holidays to life, and they could kill two birds with one stone!
And after all, what are the holidays without killing birds? We eat tons of turkeys and geese and ducks and stuff on holidays, right? So it’s perfect! In fact, now that we’re talking about dead turkeys, why not throw Thanksgiving in there by dressing Dr. Frankenstein as a pilgrim, give him a turkey assistant, and toss in the Fourth of July for good measure by having lots of fireworks go off when Frankenstein turns on the electrical equipment? Hey, at least it would be very memorable: those who saw it would likely never forget it!
