The Republicans are constantly talking about the Democrats’ “job killing” programs, and then the Republicans say they’d make things better by simplifying the tax code. This sounds like a good idea to do anyway, as taxes make lots of people miserable. But in their tax overhaul plans, have they considered how many jobs these plans would kill? If they simplified the tax code, IRS employees would lose jobs in large numbers, but that’s just the beginning. Think of all the tax preparation services we need now with this ridiculously maddeningly complicated tax system: what do you think will happen to them? H&R Block will be blocking the streets with their own protest movement once this flat tax overhaul happens! You think the Democrats are killing jobs? Just wait until the flat tax passes! I’m in favor of a more simplified tax system, but have you ever stopped to consider the booming industry created by the insufferable tax policy we currently have? They’re probably the biggest job creators in the country right now! If they lose their jobs, the economy might really crash! And then where will we be?
