I love pine nuts, but whenever I see that name (“Pine Nuts”),
for some reason I always think harvesting them is like doing the same thing to
a pine tree as what happens when a veterinarian neuters a dog or a cat. And
then I can’t help but think of that scene in The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy and the Scarecrow get accosted by
the apple trees for picking apples, and then I imagine that pine trees would
probably behave in a far more aggressive and vindictive manner than even those
apple trees if someone grabbed and tore off their pine nuts. (It must be a very dangerous job indeed!)
