We see a middle-aged couple sitting at a table in a
nightclub, enjoying one another’s company, and the announcer says: “When a
moment turns romantic, who pause to take a pill?” But, um, they’re in a crowded
nightclub; what’s he going to do, have sex with her right there on the table, in front of everyone?
Then the announcer continues: “…or stop to find a bathroom?”
as we cut to see a couple out on some public dock on some beach looking at
dolphins swim by. So, are they going to go at it on that old wooden dock in public and
get splinters on their butts as others look on?
The point I’m trying to make here is that maybe the
announcer’s dialogue ought to match the scenarios we’re watching. If you’re at
a nightclub, is it really that hard to take a pill before you have sex with
your partner? I’d think you could just take one at the table and then go home.
(Or maybe they’re going to do it in the parking garage in their car?) They’ve
made ads like this where couples are at home when romance strikes: that works a lot better
for the points made in this dialogue. This just seems kind of silly, given what
we’re watching.
(Again, like before, apparently Cialis has removed all their
recent commercials from YouTube and iSpot, leaving only parodies, so I can’t
show you this one here. But it’s all over TV. This one I just saw on 60 Minutes.)
