I love the concept of this ad, with people watching the
stars in their Jeep out in the wilderness, but we see that a comet they’re
looking at is actually the fiery combat of spaceships from Star Wars.
But aside from the issue of Star Wars happening “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”
(I guess we are to assume it took that long for the light to get to Earth?), the action we see at
the beginning of this spot doesn’t at all match the look of the comet (nor
would it be visible from light years away).
What I think they should have done would have been to show
the destruction of the Death Star (or the Starkiller base from The Force Awakens), and then zoom way
out from that. That might actually be visible from Earth, and it might work
with the light years light has to travel to Earth for it to be correct that it happened “a
long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.”
