Wisk, the laundry detergent, used to use the slogan: “Wisk
around the collar beats ring around the collar every time!” So in the spirit of
this old campaign, here’s another scenario for Wisk:
A man proposes to his girlfriend, and she says yes, but when
she sees his apartment, he’s got dirty laundry everywhere; and so she picks up
a dirty dress shirt with ring around the collar, and she says: “I won’t wear
your ring around my finger while you’ve got ring around the collar!” And she
takes off her engagement ring and throws it on his dirty laundry, and she
storms out.
Then the announcer chimes in, saying: “Problems with dirty
stains and ring around the collar? Well, your problems are over, because Wisk
gets them all out, fast!” And then we see the wedding, and everyone is happy,
and the announcer says: “Wisk around the collar beats ring around the collar
ever time!”
This is the most obnoxious “Ring around the collar” ad I
could find from Wisk:
