It’s a muggy night in the film noir city, and everyone’s window is open, and everyone’s laundry is hanging out to dry. Well, this attracts the attention of a maniac who is driven crazy by ring around the collar. He can see it everywhere, and he cannot escape it! And with everyone’s windows open, he can see who’s home, and whose laundry it is, too. And so he calls them, threatening them with death unless they remove the ring around the collar.
The whole city is shaking with fear: lives are in danger all over town, and so the police set up a dragnet and get someone to act as bait, using extra dirty shirt collars hanging just outside a window. And so the villain calls, threatening to snuff them out if they don’t remove the ring around the collar from their shirts that are hanging out to dry. Oh, but this time it’s a trap, and the bait stays on the phone long enough so the police can trace the call, which comes from a nearby phone booth. The cops call the bait, saying: “We’ve got a ring around the caller, we’ll get a clean collar (“collar”, meaning “arrest”) on the caller in no time!” And then they spring the trap, and with their ring around the caller, they nab the villain!
Then the announcer says that to avoid all this craziness, you can remove ring around the collar with Wisk!
