Hey, now that Tom Brokaw is no longer head honcho at NBC
News, why not go do a series about our country’s economic problems, and their
effects on regular people? He talks about them a lot, but I wonder if he knows
what it’s really like, him being such a rich, successful news man. Maybe he
could change his name to “Tommy Broke”, just to try to show solidarity with the
poor unemployed people across America. And he could just wander the country
dressed like a hobo, but with a hidden camera, so we could all see what life is
like for those below the poverty line, in one of their patronizing news exposé
pieces, where they look at poor people like they’re some zoo exhibit, studied
by compassionate but detached intellectuals. (I’m sure no-one would recognize
him out of his tailored suits.) And if any of them asked him for a handout, he
could say: “Sorry, I’m ‘Tommy Broke’.”, even though he’s really rich.
