I was watching some episode of Ancient Aliens recently, and they were saying that the Mayans used to perform human sacrifices by ripping people’s hearts out because they were afraid that the sun wouldn’t return if they didn’t. So I was thinking, if Little Orphan Annie came during one of those ceremonies and sang to them: “The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there’ll be sun!” would they say: “Great! Now we can stop doing these horrible deeds!” Or would they scream: “Blasphemy! Kill her!” and tear her heart out? I wonder about these things sometimes.
