Seeing a promo for a movie on TCM recently reminded me of
the director King Vidor, which reminded me of the other people I’ve known named
“King”.
I wonder, how can parents fail to show favoritism when they
name a son “King”? Maybe name the others “Emperor”, “Tsar”, “Dictator”, “Tyrant”,
etc.? Or do they just go with it and name their other children things like “Commoner”,
“Peasant”, “Subject”, etc., to show them all who their favorite really is?
I guess it’s easier if they have a daughter too: just name
her “Queen”; then if there’s a next one: “Princess”, “Empress”, etc.
