Margaret Thatcher's Soft Serve Ice Cream
Apparently Margaret Thatcher played a key role, years before going into government, in inventing soft serve ice cream. Well, remembering the old Perdue Chicken ads from the 1980s where the slogan claimed: "It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken", I thought perhaps someone could claim of soft serve ice cream: "It takes an iron lady to make a soft serve ice cream." Then maybe kids would appreciate her at a time when everyone else seems to revile her. And then perhaps they'd grow up to be conservative just to rebel against their parents. Oh, and also to stick their finger in the eye of the government's healthy food agenda. (And maybe that's why Margaret Thatcher invented soft serve ice cream in the first place: to throw a monkey wrench into the liberal health food agenda from beyond the grave, in the form of an irresistible yummy ice cream treat that all kids would love and be able easily to afford and sneak in between their tofu burgers and kale.)
