Scotts Turf Builder Ad Mascot: Another Possibility

As I’ve mentioned in another post, Scotts, the lawn care company, has decided upon a mascot for their brand: a Scottish stereotype guy who badgers people about caring for their lawns (suggesting, naturally, a specific brand of product to use!) with a Scottish accent, a tartan-looking plaid shirt, red hair and a beard, etc. Previously, I suggested instead using Mr. Scott from Star Trek,* an idea I still like. But if they wanted to rub in the Scottishness, there’s another possibility: how about some Mel Gibson stand-in dressed up like Braveheart in the tartan getup and the blue face paint? He could do that pre-battle pep talk from the movie Braveheart, only instead talk about all the things threatening the health of lawns, and do it while pacing back and forth while wielding an enormous broadsword on some guy’s front lawn. Then at the end of the speech, he could yell: “They can take our lives, but they’ll never take our GREEN LAWNS!” And the guy watching this from his front porch could say: “Okay, but do you really have to be so dramatic about it?” And the Braveheart guy could say: “Oh, sorry. I’m just so passionate about healthy lawns, you see…”

Or maybe they could have Mary, Queen of Scotts? (Sorry, I’m watching the 1971 movie Mary, Queen of Scots at the moment.) She could say: “I am Mary, Queen of Scotts, and I hereby command, by Royal decree, that you all preserve the scared lives of your lawns! You shall accomplish this divine task by using Scotts Turf Builder, causing your lawns to grow to vivid emerald green like the Scottish Highlands! The Queen has spoken!”

* Here's my previous post about using Mr. Scott from Star Trek as the Scotts advertising mascot:
