We keep seeing ads on TV about life insurance where they
show us some happy family playing in their yard, and we hear how low the rates
are, etc. But is this really a direct enough approach? Don’t we need to see the
insurance holder die? You know, just to remind us of why we need life insurance
in the first place. I mean, it doesn’t have to be grim or anything, it just has
to be fun, like a horror movie.
So here’s what I’d suggest: Show some happy family, and
then, just when we’re sure they’ll be okay, The Misfits show up and kill the
man of the house by stabbing him with one of their guitars (like on the cover
of the AC/DC live album: If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)). Then we could hear the chorus to the Misfits’ song
“Death Comes Ripping”, and we could see how that negatively affects the family.
(And then we could hear about how they would be protected with life insurance
from the insurance company the ad is for.)
And the lyrics to the song could be altered as follows:
Death comes ripping,
End of story, death comes ripping,
It drains your life savings, death comes ripping,
It’ll empty your bank account when death comes ripping out!
And this would help demonstrate that everyone needs life
insurance to help support their family just in case they get killed by a horror
punk band (which could totally happen!).
