During the recent spat over the budget battle, Nancy Pelosi has supposedly (according to dubious news sources) stated that the Republicans want old people to eat cat food. Let’s assume for the moment that’s true (that she said it; we know Republicans want seniors to eat cat food. Well, poor ones, anyway.). What a great, noble tradition of political hysteria she’s continuing! My hat’s off to her on that one. But given our debt crisis, matched with our endless quagmire wars (two going strong, with rumors of a third) and nation-building in other countries when ours is falling apart, wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity for Nancy Pelosi, assuming she actually cares about senior citizens rather than simply using them as a straw man for political rhetoric, to really help seniors by creating a new kind of cat food designed especially for seniors to eat? It could be Pelosi’s Brand ® Cat Food, with a taste cats and seniors really love! I know she’s a multi-millionaire already, so she can definitely afford the start-up costs. Oh, and I’m pretty sure she could get herself a lot of sweetheart deals, tax breaks, and subsidies. And then we could be sure that if/when seniors do end up having to eat cat food, at least it will be yummy! I can see the ads now…
