This spot for the Buick Regal GS shows a woman putting
groceries away from bags on the kitchen counter (she has just returned from
grocery shopping). So her husband walks up to her, looks through the bags,
pulls out a soda, starts to walk away, and opens it, only to have the soda
spray all over him, soaking his face, hair and clothes. All I have to say about
this ad is, it serves him right for not helping her put the groceries away!
(What a jerk.) And we are to take from this commercial the message that this
car is so much fun to drive, and it’s so sporty and powerful, she can’t help
but shake up the sodas? But it seems more to me like she drives the car to
shake up the sodas to punish her rude, thoughtless husband, rather than driving
the car for the fun of it. (Or maybe it’s both.)
