In this proposed ad for Amstel Light, a man meets an attractive woman at a crowded bar, and he asks her name, and she says: “Anita.”
But since it’s so loud, he can’t hear her well, so he asks her to repeat it,
and she says: “Anita Baer.” So he says: “Oh, you need a beer? Okay, I’ll get
you one.” So he goes off to get her a beer, and she complains to her friends
that the guy is a jerk, until he returns with a beer of her favorite brand, Amstel
Light, and she says to her friends: “Maybe he’s better than I thought. He’s
sure got good taste!” So then she goes to a table to speak with the guy, and he
apologizes for mishearing her name, and she says: “That’s okay, this is the
first time it’s gotten me something nice.” (<This part fades out as we see
the logo and hear the ad pitch.)
This would satirize the ridiculously loud bar scene and the
difficulty to easily get drinks in popular bars, so I’d think it would strike a
responsive chord with bar patrons, especially singles. Because how many people have misheard names and other things straining to make polite conversation at some loud, crowded bar?
