I know they won’t do this, but from how long it has taken
this guy to tell his kids how he met their mother, I have a novel idea for how
the series could end. Because why would someone do something like this to their
kids, where it takes literally years to answer their one question? Obviously he doesn’t want to have to tell them. And
why might that be? Well, I’d say the most likely reason is that they are
adopted, but he doesn’t want them to know, because they were adopted at birth,
and they have always thought their whole lives that they were natural children
of this couple. And so the end of the series could show the guy finally reveal
that he never actually met either of their mothers, and that’s why he’s been
dragging out the explanation for so many years: so by the time he eventually
tells them, they will be old enough to be able to emotionally accept the fact
that their original parents gave them away. And with the plan to tell the story
from the point of view of the mother, CBS could get two spinoffs rather than
one with the two mothers, and each spinoff could tell a completely different
type of story about how the women grew up, got pregnant, decided to have the
baby, and then decided to put the baby up for adoption, and what their lives
were like afterwards. And it would most certainly be a curveball of a surprise
for the fans, wouldn’t it?
