In this winter themed commercial for Audi, a lone
thirty-something man drives to his parents’ house (presumably for Christmas, or
some such winter holiday), and when he goes inside, his parents sneak out and
take his car for a joy ride. Oh, but unfortunately for them, he thinks they
have been kidnapped by some dastardly home-invader, so he calls the cops, who
chase his parents around on the ice-covered back roads at high speed, causing a
tragic accident. (Oh, the humanity!) If only they had let him know it was only
them! But because he cared, he tried to save them, ending in disaster.
Oh well, at least he gets their house. (Unless… Hey, you
don’t suppose he left the keys in his car, knowing his parents would take it
out for a spin, and all so he could claim someone stole it, leading to their
tragic car chase, so he could inherit their fortune, now do you? In fact, maybe
this guy is a bad penny, and he only rented this car hoping to lure his folks
out for just such an occasion, just like in that movie The Bad Seed! {Only with an adult male instead of a schoolgirl,
and with a new car, rather than a medal, or whatever.} And Audi is helping in
this murderous scheme? Shame on them! {Unless… You don’t think it’s possible
that one of those killer Audi 5000s from the 1980s got jealous of the
popularity of the new models and hired this guy to get revenge and smear their
reputation through some tragic theft propaganda scheme, do you? You never know
with these German cars, man. They hold grudges for a long time! [That’s what I
heard.]})
