Well, I just saw The Hobbit yesterday, and seeing Gandalf get rescued by giant birds reminded me of Dumbledore escaping on his phoenix in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and it made me wonder about possibilities for new movies once these two franchises are over. (Harry Potter is already over, and The Hobbit has two more movies to go.) And how about this for an idea: Gandalf vs. Dumbledore: Wizard Smackdown? What fantasy nerd wouldn’t want to see that? Gandalf the Grey vs. Albus Dumbledore in a magical fight to the finish! And I can see the climax now: Dumbledore destroys Gandalf the Gray, only for him to re-emerge as Gandalf the White! (I guess Harry couldn’t destroy all of Gandalf’s horcruxes in time.)
And if people liked that, we could have more magical smackdowns, like Bellatrix Lestrange vs. Samantha Stevens (from Bewitched). Who will win in this battle of the magical titans? And come to think of it, television failed us in providing a death match for the ages: Jeannie the genie (from I Dream of Jeannie) vs. Samantha Stevens the witch (from Bewitched)! (Don’t you want to know who would prevail?)
And how about a young Harry Potter vs. the Sorcerer’s Apprentice? Before they were master wizards, this was the battle that forged their wills in fire!
And how about Lord Voldemort vs. the evil queen from Sleeping Beauty? (Actually, come to think of it, they would probably just decide they were made for each other and get married.)
