In an odd commercial for Charter I see almost every day, a
young man in a hoodie dives into a TV set, but the TV set rejects the hoodie
while accepting the rest of the guy’s clothing in with him.
This is an interesting thing to see in an ad, because it
makes me wonder if the TV set thinks anyone wearing a hoodie is automatically a
criminal, and so to remove the perceived threat, it removes the hoodie from the
guy as he dives in.
And then I wondered if this technology Charter obviously has
developed to automatically take people’s hoodies off as they enter places will
soon be licensed to businesses so that when people enter the store or place of
business wearing a hoodie, a force field will remove the hoodie from the
customer, leaving it just outside the door so they can get it on the way out. I
guess Charter could make a fortune off of this technical innovation, as
apparently everyone thinks everybody wearing a hoodie is a criminal, but once
the hoodie is removed, apparently the perceived threat is gone, and everything
is sunshine and lollipops*.
(BTW: I can’t find this ad online, which is odd, as I see it
every time I watch TV.)
* (Disclaimer: Sunshine causes melanoma, and lollipops cause
obesity and diabetes, so they’re not the good things they’re cracked up to be.
Beware: don’t be fooled! Sunshine and lollipops are trying to kill you!)
