Wow, this was an unexpectedly silly ad for a probiotic laxative product!
In this spot for Insync, the digestive probiotic product named after the boy band, we see an animation of a bunch of Kenny Scharf/Gary Baseman cartoon creatures, and the announcer says that our stomach acid can kill them, and we see animation of the little monsters descending into a stomach full of acid, and then we see them killed and decomposing, with the bottoms of them becoming skeletons. (Bacteria have skeletons?)
Oh, but Insync has GI Guard, a miracle of modern science that helps protect the little guys so they can do their good work! And to demonstrate this, we see the animated gummy bear-esque monster bacteria again, but this time with little helmets on to protect them as they move through the stomach and down the intestines. But, um, last time didn’t they get digested from the bottom up? I’d think a helmet wouldn’t help much in this situation, but for some reason it does here.
Wow, I hope GI Guard works better in real life than a helmet would protect the lower extremities. Maybe the bacteria should have worn those rubber fly-fishing wading pants, or some flame-resistant firefighter pants instead of a helmet? Oh, well: a helmet it is, so here’s hoping it works! (In that case, maybe they should go down head first?)
But what a fun approach to a dull topic. I hope it works for them!
Here’s the protected probiotic propaganda piece:
