Well, this is a fun approach. Here we have an eyeball
driving a blue Mini, and a could of dust in the passenger’s seat is singing
annoying songs while the eyeball is trying to drive. Then the announcer says:
“Dust irritating your eye?”
But then something odd happens: the eyeball takes a bottle
of Visine and squirts it at the dust cloud, and it dissolves. But, um, I use
Visine for a mild eye allergy, and I can tell you that you put it in your eye,
not squirt it at dust. (Also, Visine Tears is better for relief of dust
irritation than the red-out kind, but whatever.) Maybe the eyeball should have
put a drop on itself, and that could make the dust cloud first fall silent,
and then fade away? That might work better for hair-splitters.
But this ad really raises some issues. Like, our eyeballs
commute to work every day? I thought they were always in our heads. Or maybe
this is Mike Wazowski’s (from Monsters,
Inc.) cousin? Or will some huge dust cloud come along and smother this
eyeball to death for murdering its little brother? Or maybe people will run up
onstage on American Idol-style
singing shows and squirt Visine at the bad singers? (Maybe for the next ad in
the campaign? No?)
Here’s the eye irritating spot:
