There’s a new Foyle’s War series beginning tonight on PBS, but as it’s based on Cold War stuff, shouldn’t it be called: Foyle’s Cold War? (I wonder if they will have an episode about how they let the Cambridge Five give the A-bomb to the Soviets?) But if this series is popular, it could open up a lot more Foyle’s War series possibilities, like the following:
Foyle’s Thumb War: Some drunk guy challenges Foyle to a thumb-wrestling “Thumb War” at a pub right after the Allies win the war, and we see this battle royale all the way through! (A one-off TV movie.)
Foyle’s War on Poverty: Sam drives Foyle around the country after the war, throwing money at people out the window of the car.

Foyle’s War on Drugs: Foyle’s son gets hooked on heroin after his horrific war experiences land him in the hospital again and again with wounds and burns, and so Foyle must find and stop a vicious dope ring that’s victimizing war veterans, so they can get back to being alcoholics like the rule of law intended.
Foyle’s War on Obesity: Foyle gets fat from sitting around at his desk job for too long, and so he has to lose weight (which should be easy with English food).
Foyle’s Star Wars: Where Foyle gets sucked through an aberrant wormhole created by an H-bomb test and is transported through time and space to the Star Wars galaxy to help the rebels fight against the Sith.
Foyle’s War of the Worlds: Aliens invade Earth, taking over human bodies, and only police work can reveal the interlopers! Can Foyle save the Earth? (Of course he can.)

Foyle’s War of Words: A prequel show about Foyle’s time on his college’s debate team.
Foyle’s Warmongering: After his work at MI5, a former colleague hires Foyle to sell advanced weapons systems to rogue nations lined up against the Communists.
