There’s a scene in Minority Report where Tom Cruise is fighting police agents who are trying to catch him, and the fight spills over into a completely automated Lexus factory. Well, In seeing this scene again after ten years, it occurs to me that Lexus could use part of this scene as an ad to sell cars to people who don’t like Tom Cruise. They could show the scene where the robot welding arms look like they are about to kill Tom Cruise, and the announcer could say: “Lexus: We’re always trying to kill Tom Cruise!”
Also, Lexus could have a Minority Report-themed anti-Auto Workers Union ad that shows the same automated factory, and the announcer says: “At Lexus, we’re always working to kill American jobs, especially union jobs, because they pay too much. After all, robots work for free! Eventually nobody will be able to afford our cars anymore, but by then we'll all be dead, so who cares what happens to everyone, right? Besides, pretty soon we'll be making weapons for the Terminators to kill all the humans anyway, so what difference does it make?” (Oh, didn’t they read that into that scene before they signed off on the product placement? Oh well, I’m sure nobody but me will notice anyway… Although in the current economic climate, it’s kind of hard to miss. And like I have said before on this blog, if you're going to pay for product placement or sponsor something, you might want to be sure that it won't make your company or its products look bad first. But it's just a suggestion.)
