Smartacus

Yes, it’s Smartacus, genius of Ancient Rome, who challenged the status quo with his brilliance! Rather than fight against Rome, he made them look stupid and embarrassed them, defeating them at chess, trivia games, debates and so forth. And well, okay, maybe he got killed too, and is not as well remembered as Spartacus, but hey: at least he was smart and tried to overcome repression using his intelligence, rather than by using violence. Ah, but unfortunately for him, powerful people don’t like to lose, especially hating it when they are shown up in public, and so Smartacus was executed. I guess he was just a man who was ahead of his time. (Although powerful people still don’t like losing, being wrong, or being embarrassed publicly. So I guess not that much has really changed after all, has it?)
