Seeing those Chick-fil-A ads with the cows pressuring people to "Eat Mor Chikin" made me think of another possible tack to take with this concept. But since Chick-fil-A is already married to their cows, I thought maybe KFC could do it.
So in this scenario, roving gangs of murderous chickens are prowling the country, killing people all over the place by pecking them to death. And after we see these bloodthirsty chickens gorily mutilating everyone, the announcer says: "Chickens are on the loose! They'll kill us all if we don't stop them! So quick: eat all the chicken you can, before it's too late!"
This mighty work well with the apocalyptic fascination we currently have as a society, and it might make for a fun alternative to zombies for a change.
