A recent Dos Equis ad I saw for the first time last night, using the same “The Most Interesting Man in the World” campaign concept, has an interesting line of dialogue in it, which is: “His 2¢ is worth $37 and change”. And this line is fun and clever for this character and for this campaign, but it would be even better for another product/service: investment services!
Yes, it’s amazing I have never seen this before as the slogan for some investment service. Remember the EF Hutton ads with the slogan: “When EF Hutton talks, people listen”? (Johnny Carson had a great joke on these ads where people are at a wake for some dearly departed guy, and when someone at the gathering says to whoever he’s talking to: “I’m with EF Nutton, and he says…”, everyone stops talking, and even the dead man sits up in the coffin and cups his ear to listen.) Well, I think it would make a great slogan to use this idea for an investment service, like so: “Charles Schwab: Our two cents is worth millions”, or: “Our two cents can make you millions”.
