There’s a (cover version of a) song (“Dream Lover”) by a
punk rock group (The Plasmatics), where they proudly state on the album that
for the solo section, the musicians were separated so that they couldn’t hear
what each other were playing, and they mixed that together for that extra
unlistenable experience. And I always used to think, after hearing this for the
first time as a child: “Hey, they should do a whole orchestra like this!” And
they could call it “Classical Improv”.
