Oklahoma
State made a field goal attempt in the first half of the Cotton Bowl tonight where
the kick went up, and it hit to tippy top of the right goal post, bounced off
the wind flag's eye bolt, and went wide to the right.
I have
seen kicks bounce off the uprights (Doink!) and back onto the field to be
caught and run in for a touchdown (it doesn't happen often, but it has happened);
but this one, where it bounced off the very top and could have gone in but
bounced out, has to be the best miss ever!
(Of
course, the one where Alabama missed and had it returned for a game-winning
touchdown by Auburn this year was no slouch either! But this one tonight was
like Robin Hood splitting the other guy’s arrow in the center of the bull’s
eye, but losing anyway.)
