The movie Saw was a huge hit, but the name of the
movie always confused me a little bit, because I always thought it was because
of the fact that one of the characters was supposed to cut through their own
ankle with a saw. (Seeing the end of Mad
Max again reminded me of this, since that movie has a guy given a choice of
whether to burn to death or cut through his own ankle.) But there’s also the
villain: Jigsaw, and maybe the movies are named after him.
So that got me thinking:
with all the mockbusters out there these days, has there really been one that
rips off Saw enough? And then I
thought: “Hey, all they’d need would be the name of a tool and a villain who’s
moniker has that tool’s name in it, right?” So then I thought of Drill. Drill would be a movie about people who get abducted and then have
to drill holes in themselves or others they know and love with a power drill;
and naturally, the villain’s moniker would be The Drill Sergeant, because he’d
make everyone march to his tune.
And then, if that
worked, they could make a series called Sanding,
where the villain, Sandy, abducts people and makes them flay each other with
sandpaper.
