In the apartment
building I live in, the place is virtually littered with signs of Christmas
trees, Santa Clauses and “Ho Ho Ho” and “Merry Christmas” and the like on
everyone’s front doors. (Hanukkah is over, or else there would be lots of
Menorahs as well.) But what about for the anti-Christmas, anti-holiday-cheer
crowd? Surely there must be a Scrooge among us, right? But I’ll bet there’s no
“Bah, Humbug!” sign jigsawed out of wood and painted in bright, festive colors
with sparkles glued onto the letters for them to buy so that they can express
themselves this yuletide. Surely that’s oppression of some sort, now isn’t it?
(Or maybe even a hate crime?) Quick, someone call the ACLU: we need new laws to
protect Scrooges!
