According to reports, three American presidents are flying together to the funeral of great South African statesman Nelson Mandela on Air Force One. I heard Jake Tapper say that on the flight to the funeral of King Hussein of Jordan, the presidents who flew together developed a tight bond due to the long flight and the nothing else to do but talk to each other scenario. Oh, but what if they hated each other and argued about policy the whole way? What a nightmare! But that could all be avoided if they had DirecTV. Then they could watch all the best in TV, movies and sports, and ignore each other completely, keeping the peace.
So here’s how this ad would work: We’d see three presidents boarding Air Force One to fly to some international event together, and then we cut to an older White House aide (or Secret Service guy) on Air Force One with all the presidents in the background (the presidents slightly out of focus), and he would speak to the camera in almost a whisper, saying: “Boy, I remember how it used to be! All these presidents used to argue for hours and days flying around the world together. It was awful! But now it’s all much better, ever since they got DirecTV. Now they can watch all the best of TV, movies and sports, and they get along really well.” Then we see the three presidents wrestling over the remote in the background, and the aide says: “Well, except for when they fight over what to watch.”
