In this proposed ad for DirecTV based on the famous old TV
sitcom Gilligan’s Island, we see
Gilligan watching TV in his hut, with all the other castaways crowded around watching
too, and he looks at the camera and says: “We used to really want to be rescued
a while ago, but nowadays we’re happy to stay right where we are, because now
we get DirecTV! The professor set up a makeshift satellite dish out of cocoanut
shells, and now we get everything we were missing before that made us want to
be rescued: all the best in television shows, movies and sports! So now we’re
happy to stay on our island paradise forever.” (Of course, they still get the
bill airdropped to them each month despite being marooned on an uncharted
desert isle.)
