In this ad for Campbell’s Chunky Soup (New England Clam
Chowder, I think. But hey: that should be with the Patriots, not the Packers!
Shouldn’t the Packers ad have a cheddar cheese soup?), two players for the
Green Bay Packers walk through the back of a locker in their locker room, and
it’s the “Mom cave”, where the blonde player’s mother is making soup for him to
keep him strong.
I love the Chunky Soup ads with the players’ moms: they are
so cute and sweet. But this one feels a bit odd. The “Mom cave” idea is good,
but it looks like the mother is being held prisoner to make soup for her son,
doesn’t it? But at least she can peek out while they’re dressing and take
covert photos to sell to Playgirl and
such. Because what else is she going to do with her time in there anyway?
Campbell’s Chunky Soups are heat and serve, so she’s going to have a lot of
time on her hands back there.
