Apparently the SpaghettiOs marketing team made lots of people mad when they tweeted a picture of a
SpaghettiO waving an American flag and reminded everyone of Pearl Harbor Day.
Wow, that’s not very smart, because if they’re going to
offend everyone anyway, why not go all the way? They could have shown a picture
of a Japanese Zero, and replaced the rising suns on the wings with SpaghettiOs
filled in with marinara sauce. Now wouldn’t that draw everyone’s ire more
effectively and reasonably?
Oh, but if that didn’t attract everyone’s rage, they could try
this: recreate iconic war photographs from the Pacific theater of World War II,
but replace the soldiers with meatballs and ravioli, and replace the blood with marinara
sauce. And if people condemned the images, they could counter with the
question: “Oh yeah, well what’s more American than pasta?” (Um, hmm…)
Who could possibly object to this stuff anyway? (Oh, um,
everyone? Well, then I deny even commenting on this! Can you prove they didn’t think of it first?)
